Passions is an expressive documentary series that explores the many diverse ways in which we choose to spend our free time. It is a close look at what we become when left to our own devices—an insight into the people we thought we would become when our younger selves dreamed. The images show ordinary activities that take on extraordinary meaning to those captured. For some, it’s a life-long leisure activity. For others, an obsession. In both cases, these people take great pleasure in passions that provide respite from the difficult and sometimes unpleasant realities of work. These environmental portraits, rendered in black and white, use lighting and vantage point to create an intimate setting in which to view the subjects and their passions. This series is captured with a Sony A7rIII full-frame 42.4-megapixel camera.
